A bunch of excited hackers spent today moving into the Durham hackerspace. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the effort! Hackerspace communities are all about cooperative, synchronous involvement. Thanks to that kind of involvement, we have a space and it’s getting more awesome by the minute. If you haven’t been a part of the effort up to this point, now’s the time to get involved. We would love your support and input in these formative stages. All are welcome, and always will be.

We’ll be at the space from 3pm-7pm on Sunday, September 12th if you didn’t get a chance to stop by today! Our first *official* meeting in the new space is on Tuesday, September 14th. At that meeting, we’ll be giving out keys to members.

Interested in becoming a member? Come to our next meeting and get to know us! Already been to a few meetings and deciding that you want to join? Join us again on Tuesday (or arrange an alternate time with us through the Google group if you cant make it: http://groups.google.com/group/durham-makerspace), donate $50-$100 via Paypal (normal dues are $50/month, but we’re requesting additional startup funds if possible) — And pick up your key on Tuesday!

We’re all looking forward to watching this grow. Grab some popcorn and check out a couple pictures and a short video from Day One at the Durham Hackerspace:

We have a long, awesome road ahead of us, and you should be a part of it, too. Amazing things happen when you work together. Cheers!
